Event Overview
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a chronic, and if left untreated, terminal medical condition. With over 39 million Americans affected by OSA, it is likely that you see at least one patient a day in your office suffering from this problem. Couple that with the fact that nearly 80% of people are unaware they have this disease, and general dentists are given the unique opportunity to educate on, screen for, and treat OSA.
This course will help general dentists become more aware of how they can play a role in the management of OSA; whether it be simply screening patients, all the way to knowing what is involved to starting your own sleep practice.
Course Objectives
Understand the science of sleep, and how our medical colleagues diagnose and treat OSA
Review what dentists can do to manage OSA (it's more than just oral appliances!)
Learn how to perform airway focused examinations on patients
Explore the business side of dental sleep medicine to see if treating patients can work for your practice.
